There is terminology covering the act of feeding from sleeping prey, which given the Kiss's insinuative properties can work wonderfully for the stealth-oriented Kindred. Preying upon other's misery is a powerful theme inherent to the game, particularly for the "less noble" clans. Feeding from the infirm, the clinically insane, the terminal patients, the lonely, the elderly and the desperate. Addicts and the whole drug sub-culture fold neatly into the above but, by my reckoning, merit their own entry. Feeding from the drunken crowd in pub watering holes is a setting staple (see also: The Rack). Bonding your "feeding wells" (just some drops, no need to expend precious blood) also goes well with building a herd to support your nightly activities.

Feeding from animals is the very first go-to for those vampires that cannot operate with any level of secrecy or who wish to remain as close to the ground as possible. The discipline-impaired clans are way more interesting in this regard than the Dominate-monkeys, if you ask me. I actually like having to look out for situations where this might be a problem and try to engineer a solution. Nowadays, blood is plentiful if one knows where to look for it and makes some insightful provisions. The particular point you make stumped the hell out of me starting out, as well. Particularly since I house-ruled right from the start that humans regenerate one blood point per week, not per day as is stated in the rulebook (since that felt completely out of sync with reality and promoted easy bloodfarming on a ridiculous scale). It's a whole wide world of nightly possibilities.
